From the western foothills of the Andes on a “northerly inclined spur of the Cordillera Occidental” in Pacific coastal Colombia, this is one of the largest species of dart frogs. They are typically found near small streams and enjoy a water feature in their habitat. These frogs do not have much variation in their morphs and can be broken down into 4 “morphs’ or colors, mint, yellow, orange and orange blackfoot. They are generally a terrestrial species but can use all areas of their habitat.

This is a great frog to be kept in groups, is extremely bold, and can always be observed exploring the tank. They usually reach sexual maturity around 18 months but it is based more on size than age of the frog. They can lay clutches of up to 20 eggs! The eggs will hatch in approximately 11 days, once metamorphosized they will readily take flies. As froglets they are dark in color and develop their adulting coloring over time as they get older. These guys are ferocious eaters and don’t shy away from larger prey like most frog species.
