Crested geckos from New Caladonia which is a group of islands between Fiji and Australia. They get to approximately 8 inches in length including the tail and typically around 35-55 grams as an adult. They are a very hardy species and can easily be kept and enjoyed by everyone! They are an arboreal species so they love to climb, provide them with branches and places to climb and plenty of hiding spots as they are a nocturnal species. Because of this, they do not require UV lighting, but I have lights on my tanks that run 12 hours a day to replicate the day. Geckos should have access to a water dish and mist the tanks 1-2 times a day to maintain humidity and give them a peak of 80-100% humidity at times which will aid them in shedding. They reach sexual maturity at around 15-18 months of ages or a minimum of 35 grams. They can live up to 20 years in captivity. If crested geckos drop their tails, they do not grow back, but it will not impact their quality of life.
